FEET CONDITIONS- CAUSES AND TREATMENT





 In my last blog, I discussed footcare , why its the most neglected part of the body and  how to care for the feet. 

In today's blog I will be explaining  three most common feet conditions ;the causes and treatment .

Some common Feet Conditions are ;

  1. Osteoarthritis
  2. Gout
  3. Athletes Foot 
  4.  Rheumatoid  arthritis
  5. Plantar fasciitis
  6. Bunions
  7. Corns
  8. Ingrown toenails
  9. Metatarsalgia
  10. Nail fungal infection
.1 Osteoarthritis
osteoarthritis is an autoimmune disease, meaning that the cells attack itself. it is basically the wear and tear of the joints, the joints loses its elasticity and leads to decrease in collagen. collagen is the most abundant protein in the body used to make connective tissue, when the joints become devoid of collagen  the bones touch each other and this is where the joint pain occurs.   
Causes 
Damage or breakdown of joint cartilage between bones

Treatment

Increasing physical activity
Physical therapy 
Weight loss reduces pressure on joint, slow progression of osteoartithis
Supportive devices
Surgery

2.Gout

Gout is also a common type of arthritis ,  it is the sudden onset of pain in the joints mainly the big toe.


Causes

Gout occurs when urate crystals accumulate in your joint, causing the inflammation and intense pain of a gout attacks. Urate crystals can form when you have high levels of uric acid in your blood. (Mayo Clinic,2021).

Gout is usually caused by ones diet.

Treatment

Gout is a feet condition caused by one's diet , therefore lifestyle changes will be necessary in order to bring relief. This involves

  •  Maintaining a healthy diet 
  •  Exercising 
  •  Managing weight 
  •  Checking in with the Doctor. 
3.Rheumatoid Arthritis 
rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that affects the joints, the joints become inflamed causing pain and swelling.

Causes
no one knows what exactly causes rheumatoid arthritis but it is mainly due to the attack of the immune systems to healthy tissues in the body. the risk factors include, genetics, smoking and diet.

Treatment
  • Surgery
  • Medication
  • Therapy
A doctor may refer you to a physical or occupational therapist who can teach you exercises to help keep your joints flexible. The therapist may also suggest new ways to do daily tasks that will be easier on your joints ( Mayo Clinic , 2021 ) .

Caring For The Feet Embarrassing situations happen all the time , but there are somethings that we can  definitely  prevent ,  for example  not caring for our feet. On a regular basis it is expose to bacteria , dirt  and many other germs , it being the" ride or die" of our daily adventures we ought to do right by our soldiers . In today's blog I will be discussing some important facts about the feet, why its the most neglected part of the human anatomy, feet conditions and some steps in caring for them. The feet is located at the most distal part of our body , it is  a part of our body that is used excessively and because of this , it is necessary that attention must be payed to this area.
