Why Self Care is Important?

yogajournal.com

Self care  is not just about grooming ourselves , wearing the latest outfits or buying the most recent iPhone. Self care is something that should resonate deep within; physically, emotionally and mentally. We have to care for ourselves on a full scale . If I must say it is the most difficult thing any human can do because of  our daily relationships with others makes it impossible for some of us to evaluate ourselves,  take time off  or as I wrote in the previous blog have one on one with yourself. When you look in the mirror , how do you view yourself. Try it! Look in the mirror for a minute. What is the first thought that crosses your mind? Is it something bad or good? Why was it the first thought that crossed your mind? I have a strong belief that many of us lose ourselves in receiving and giving our energies on to others. In our interactions with persons we happen to project our insecurities and flaws on to others , as a  result we become slaves to others negative energies and insecurities as we  project them on to others and ourselves.

Self care is about treating yourself as you would treat any other person, its about opening your mind to what you really need, what you would not accept and most importantly self care  has a long term benefit for your mind and body. According to  Katherine Hurst  self care has many benefits such as increasing better productivity. When we realize what we want and need , we are able to minus out unnecessary drama from our lives and focus on ourselves and goals. secondly , physically we are able to resist diseases, basically by having a better health routine, such as sleeping in early, eating on time, relaxing and rejuvenating keeps our mind and body at ease. "When you regularly carve out time that's only about being good to yourself and meeting your own needs, you send a positive message to your subconscious." (The Law of Attraction, ).This is why it is so important to treat ourselves well.  Fourthly, it increases our self  knowledge. A huge part of self care is about doing something you really love. This increases your inspiration to enhance your skills or passion and try new things. Lastly, it gives you the  ability to give more. Try being more good to yourself, this is not selfish but it is necessary   to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself and others.
